Gates Of Andaron F.A.Q.

Gates Of Andaron - Frequently Asked Questions

This thread will contain Frequently Asked Questions about a lot of subjects concerning Gates Of Andaron. In this very post I will post some general F.A.Q., followed by more posts regarding questions on the following subjects:
  • Characters & Classes
  • Guilds
  • Area Conquest / War
  • Item Upgrades / Refinements
  • Cash Shop
  • Contact with the Team

But first, some general questions that are asked a lot on the forum, IRC and also ingame.

Q: How do I chat ingame? I can only find out how to whisper.
A: You open the normal chat by hitting ENTER. You can switch to chatting in certain areas (Guild, Party) by using the following commands:
/a for ALL chat - This chat is global and for your entire kingdom.
/n for NORMAL chat - This chat goes to any player in your own kingdom near you.
/p for PARTY chat - This chat goes only to players that are in your party.
/g for GUILD chat - This chat goes to all members in your guild.
/w NAME for WHISPER chat - Whispers to only NAME. Remember to replace it with the players nick.
/r for RAID chat - This chat goes to all parties joined in the raid you are currently in.

Q: How can I purchase more Arrows/Bolts/Throwing Axes?
A: Throwing Axes, Arrows and Bolts are sold by nearly every - allied - General Tools salesman. The first you will encounter are Mr. Bab in Valorian and Ryanband in Derion.
Q: How can I open an own shop?
A: You can open an own shop by rightclicking your characters' portrait, followed by "Own Shop". Now you need to name your shop and drag items there from your inventory. You can set the price you want to sell it at then.
Q: What is the difference between Districts/Channels?
A: Districts/Channels are exactly the same. The only thing not shared is the players on it - exceptions are the maps Ardir, Hesed, Kaos Outpost, Tyconteroga and the mission maps. The districts were created so that players have the possibility to quest alone without others killing the monsters they are after.

Q: Can I turn off the ALL chat?
A: Yes you can. Right click the "NORMAL" tab and a pop-up box will let you choose what chats to follow and what to ignore.

Q: What can I use Honour / Achievement Points for?
A: Honour is just a stat. Achievement Points can be used to buy Water Of The Worlds, which can be used to create high-end armour.

Q: The durability of one of my items has gone down to 0 - What happens now?
A: You cannot use this item until you get it repaired. You can get that done in the starter town for your kingdom ( Lonbaley / Kuznez ) or in the capital ( Markut / Keter ).

Q: How can I get a mount?
A: Mount can only be bought with real money. You purchase Moonstones from the Gameforge AG, which can be used to buy a mount of a specific period of time.

(More will be added here when more is needed ;) )

F.A.Q. - Characters and Classes

Q: What race should I play to get the best results for my class?
A: Humans make the best Archers and Support Priests, and do fairly decent as Night Walkers and Evocators.
Neved make the best Warriors and Night Walkers and do fairly decent as Archers.
Fairy make the best Magicians, Evocators and Damage Priests. You could also opt for a fairy supportpriest.

Q: Can I see another players' character info?
A: Yes. You can see their profile here: http://gatesofandaron.com/lexicon/charinfo/CHARNAME/1 - Replace CHARNAME with the characters name.

Q: How much characters can I have on a single account?
A: 6 - One for each class. You can, should you wish so, open another account for more characters.

Q: How do I get more Ability Points to spend on my skills?
A: Each even numbered level you will get 2 Ability Points - Eg. 2, 4, 6, 8, etc.

Q: What are Conquest Points for and how do I acquire them?
A: Conquest Points are an indication of how much Ability Points you have spent in that particular skill tree. You will need a certain amount to get the better skills in a tree.

If you have suggestions, please send them per PM to me rather than posting in this thread. Thank you.

F.A.Q. - Guilds

Q: How do I create a guild?
A: You can create a guild once you reach level 20. To do it you need to speak to Drakan in Markut (Derion) or Turen in Keter - Magnaktia Soldier District (Valorian).

Q: How do I spread out titles to guildmembers?
A: The Guild Master can spread out titles once the guild hits level 3 and higher. At level 3 and 4 only the Guild Master can have a title (Baron), after that he can spread out titles. The commands to do so are the following:
/setbaron NAME for a Baron title,
/setviscount NAME for a Viscount title,
/setcount NAME for a Count title,
/setmarquis NAME for the Marquess title,
/setduke NAME for the Prince title.

Q: How do I give out Achievement Points?
A: Only the guild master can give out Achievement Points. He does this by clicking the members' name in the Member List and clicking Reward.

Q: How do I access the Guild Warehouse?
A: The Guild Warehouse is available at level 3 and higher. The Guild Master and his Deputies can access it at the guy who allowed them to create the guild (Draken/Turen)

Q: How does a Guild level up?
A: To level up, a guild needs a certain amount of members and donated experience. The exact amounts can be found here.

Q: What use is money donated to the guild?
A: At this moment, none at all. There should be a use for it later.

F.A.Q. - War

Q: How do I acquire more Honour / Achievement Points?
A: You can gain Honour and AP by killing a player from the Valorian faction max 5 levels below you. In AC, you'll get a point even for higher players. You can also earn AP by various achievements during the Conquest.

Q: How does my guild takeover an area in the Area Conquest?
A: To take over an area, you first have to open the gate by killing the Door Guard that spawns at the start of the conquest. After he is killed, the door opens. You then have to kill the Dragon Patron Saint in both his human and undead form.

Q: How do I get the reward from the Area Conquest?
A: First of all, you need to be in a guild that owns an area. If you are, you have to make sure to be in the region that particular area is in when AC ends ( "north" for Ardir / Hesed, "south" for Tyconteroga and Kaos Outpost ). You will then receive a mail with a message from Administrator. Extract the attachment and use the acquired document to finish the "Call of the North" or "Call of the South" quest in your capital.

Q: When can players from the other faction attack me?
A: You can always be freely attacked in Ardir, Hesed, Tyconteroga and Kaos Outpost, or in any of the mission maps (secret document). Additionally, you can be attacked if you are in the opposing kingdom, and you can be attacked if you are in your own kingdom, but attacked the "invaders" first yourself.

Q: I'm not getting honour for killing this player who is my level - What happened?
A: After killing a player 3 times, he will not give you anymore honour for 10 minutes. After that he should be giving you honour again. It might also be so that you have a player in your party who is too high level to get honour from the one you killed. If he is close, you will not get any honour either.

Q: Is there a way to find out how well I've been doing in PvP?
A: Next to your amount of honour - which is an inaccurate stat - you have information in your character info (Press C, then go to the War tab). It will tell you how much kills and deaths you have, how you've been doing against a particular class, and how your last 10 battles went.

Q: I heard of a "honour ranking" - Where can I find this?
A: If you press "C" and check the "War" tab, you'll find your honour in the top, followed by a rank. There's no way to find out where others are ranked though.
